Report: Russia’s power consumption rises 4.3% since January 1
MOSCOW, Jan 19 (PRIME) -- Russia’s power consumption increased by 4.3% on the year from January 1 through Tuesday, or by 0.6% excluding the weather factor, Deputy Energy Minister Yevgeny Grabchak said in an interview to Rossiya 24 television channel without providing absolute figures.
“Electric power consumption data also have positive dynamics. The result of the past days of this year is that growth amounted to more than 4.3% as compared with the similar period of the previous year, while for some regions it exceeded 6%,” he said.
“It is obvious that the cold winter accounts for the bulk of the growth. But excluding the weather factor, the data show an increase of consumption by 0.6%. This shows expansion of economic activity in the country.”
